I’m going to share a favorite picture of Daddy and Millie in honor of his birthday today.
We have lots of good pictures over our lifetime together. We met as teenagers, married in high school, grew up together, birthing and parenting 9 precious children.
Always my best friend, life has taken us through so many storms. Some relationship, some financial, some health, but the hardest was the sorrow of losing our baby girl.
We both have a deep belief in Jesus and dependance on him and each other as we walk through this grief journey. Over the last two years without Millie here, I have seen deep growth in David. His level of compassion for others has grown as his understanding of loss deepened. His heart for other’s salvation has been expanded as he constantly studies and learns more about the word of God.
I see the times he struggles so deeply, missing her with every heartbeat. I see when his heart hurts so bad he can’t sleep and also when his dreams haunt him of a little girl who was but will not be again this side of heaven. I pray for him in the hard times, just as he prays for me in the hard days. We share our tears and our hearts about the hurt of losing Millie.
If you had told us as two starry eyed teenagers that our life would walk this road, it would have scared us to death. Instead, life was gentler allowing us to enjoy the moments we had, taking each one for granted that there would be another. Now we know better. Now we understand that we are not promised tomorrow. We are to be fully present in today.
Happy Birthday to my Beloved David! May your day be blessed. May your year be peaceful. May you only know happiness this year.
